Cowboys Make History at Notre Dame

Published by Oklahoma State SID on February 20th, 2016

South Bend, Ind. – The Oklahoma State track and field program ended its indoor regular season on a high note Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.

Despite holding the No. 7 spot in the DMR nationally, and the top-time in the Big 12 coming into the competition, coachDave Smith wanted more out of his team and the quartet of Chad NoelleBrandon SingletonTre'Tez Kinnaird and Josh Thompson delivered.

The Cowboy team finished the relay in 9:26.60, smashing OSU's previous best in 2016 by nine seconds and breaking the 3-year-old school record by two seconds. The impressive feat also put the Cowboys in elite company as they clocked the third fastest time in NCAA history and tied the Alex Wilson Invitational meet record that was set back in 2013.

"Everybody just ran great for us out there," Smith said. "Josh ran a 3:56 as the anchor, which would be a huge personal best, and Tre'Tez and Brandon also had amazing legs after Chad opened it up for us. I think today shows that they are a serious threat to win the national title."
